Writing:
- 1. Buying clothes:
People nowadays seem to spend more and more on clothes than ever before and much more than any other expenses for our daily life needs. This is not any more surprising as anyone knows people always want to be nicer and more attractive in others’ eyes. Paying much for clothing and clothes is not a new trend of life, or an old fashion. Market researchers say that clothes and clothing are the best selling products through ages from rural places to cities. Eight out of ten women do not mind spending most of their free time shopping to buy their clothes, they even cut down on other expenses to save enough for a new fashion trend. For most women, it is the appearance that they most care for they follow the famous saying “Eat the food you like, dress the clothes the others love”. Therefore, textiles and garments are becoming the fastest – ever- developed industries in our today world.
- 2. Earning money:
Money is not only necessary to our daily life but also the sum of money we earn can tell exactly how successful in material life we are, and set our own social positions as well. In our daily life, we can hardly do things without the help of money, or other financial supports. One spends most of his own time earning a living, earning money and trying to gain a social position. Money seems more and more attractive to those who own, who want to have, who are in need of, so that all people rush to earn as much as we can. Earning much money can either help us improve our material life and supports the others or makes us important persons in families, in communities, as well as in societies. Some even become too much interested in earning money that they risk their lives doing illegal businesses, committing crime just to get enough as they wish. Money is sometimes, in some cases, the cause of bad things, and even breaks the valuable spiritual basis.
- 3. Ways to conserve electricity:
Using energy-saving appliances is one of the most economical ways to conserve electricity. Scientists have proved that a florescent neon can save up to thirty percent of the electricity consumption compared to an ordinary light bulb. A modern technology refrigerator can help the owner save twenty to twenty five percent of the energy consumption. Using LCD screens we can cut down at least half of the expense on electricity for your TV or video watching. Other modern household equipments, utilities, and devices are widely used to lessen the cost of electricity, to create more and more savings to house owners. Thanks to the fast development of science and technology, many more saving energy devices have been made to meet our requirements of conserving the energy, to lessen our expenses on electricity consumption, so as to protect our environment for generations to come.
- 4. Education in Vietnam:
The education system in Vietnam aims at upgrading the people’s understanding, training the skilled labor force and promoting the talented students. The systems of schools are built to meet the people’s need of studying and training. The school systems are run by the government, with the fixed academic curriculum, grades and textbooks. Teachers of all education systems are carefully trained, and paid for to give good lecture to students of all ages. There are compulsory subjects at school so that students will be taught to fulfill the requirements of their future jobs. Children start school at the age of six and finish school after 12 years of school education system. Primary and secondary education are compulsory and free to all children. After finishing school education, children can have a wide range of choice for higher education. In Vietnam, teaching is among the most respectful professions, and the whole society pay greater and greater attention to upgrading the national education so as to promote the country to develop.
- 5. School’s policy regarding speaking in English:

BAKED COCONUT PUDDING RECIPE
INTRODUCTION:
This rice pudding made with coconut milk and toasted coconut is another French-inspired dessert. When serve in the Vietnamese home, it might be accompanied by fruits in syrup, or stir-fried bananas or pineapple. It needs long, slow cooking in a low oven, so be sure to allow plenty of time to make it. It is well worth the wait.
The Vietnamese love sticky rice and mung bean desserts and always sprinkle a little extra sugar over the top to serve. For a slightly different flavor, serve the rice pudding with slices of seared mango or banana instead of the sauced pineapple.
INGREDIENTS: Serves 4-6 persons
Pudding rice 90 g
Coconut milk 600 ml
Full-fat (whole) milk 300 ml
Caster (superfine) sugar 75 g
Butter, plus extra for greasing 25 g
Fresh or desiccated (dry unsweetened shredded) coconut, toasted 45-60 ml
Sweet pineapple 1 small
Sesame oil 30 ml
Fresh root ginger, peeled and grated 5 cm
Shavings of toasted coconut, for garnishing
METHOD :
Preheat the oven to 150oC/300oF/Gas 2.
Grease an oven proof dish. In a bowl, mix the rice with coconut milk, milk and 50 g sugar and tip it into the oven proof dish. Dot pieces of butter over the top and place the dish in the oven.
After 30 minutes, take the dish out and gently stir in the toasted coconut.
Return it to the oven for a further 1 1/2 hours, or until almost all the milk is absorbed and a golden skin has formed on top of the pudding.
Using a sharp knife, peel the pineapple and remove the core, then cut the flesh into bite-size cubes.
Towards the end of the cooking time, heat the oil in a wok or heavy pan.
Stir in the ginger and, as the aroma is released, add the pineapple cubes, turning them over to sear on both sides. Sprinkle with the remaining sugar and continue to cook until the pineapple is slightly caramelized.
Serve the rice pudding spooned into bowls and topped with the hot, caramelized pineapple and shavings of toasted coconut.

The Vietnamese Independence Day
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is famous for its defense wars and its long-timed process of defending and constructing the country. Through its over-four-thousand-year history, the Vietnamese nation has defeated many colonies even the most aggressive and powerful. All the Vietnamese, from generations to generations, are proud of the twentieth century defense wars to gain the Independence Day declared on September 2, 1945 by Ho Chi Minh the greatest national hero.
In the early 20th century, Vietnamese patriots realized that they could not defeat France without modernization. Having been exposed to Western philosophy, they aimed to establish a republic upon independence, departing from the royalist sentiments of the Cần Vương movements. Japan's defeat of Russia in the Russo-Japanese War served as a perfect example of modernization helping an Asian country defeat a powerful European empire.
Marxism was then introduced into Vietnam with the emergence of three separate Communist parties; the Indochinese Communist Party, Annamese Communist Party and the Indochinese Communist Union, joined later by a Trotskyist movement led by Tạ Thu Thâu. In 1930 the Communist International (Comintern) sent Nguyễn Ái Quốc to Hong Kong to coordinate the unification of the parties into the Vietnamese Communist Party with Trần Phú as the first Secretary General. Later the party changed its name to the Indochinese Communist Party as the Comintern, under Stalin, did not favor nationalistic sentiments. Nguyễn Ái Quốc was a leftist revolutionary living in France since 1911. He participated in founding the French Communist Party and in 1924 traveled to the Soviet Union to join the Comintern. Through the late 1920s, he acted as a Comintern agent to help build Communist movements in Southeast Asia. During the 1930s, the Vietnamese Communist Party was nearly wiped out under French suppression with the execution of top leaders such as Tran Phú, Lê Hồng Phong, and Nguyễn Văn Cừ.
In 1940, during World War II, Japan invaded Indochina, keeping the Vichy French colonial administration in place as a Japanese puppet. In 1941 Nguyễn Ái Quốc, now known as Hồ Chí Minh, arrived in northern Vietnam to form the Việt Minh Front, short for Việt Nam Độc Lập Đồng Minh Hội (League for the Independence of Vietnam). The Việt Minh Front was supposed to be an umbrella group for all parties fighting for Vietnam's independence, but was dominated by the Communist Party. The Việt Minh had a modest armed force and during the war worked with the American Office of Strategic Services to collect intelligence on the Japanese. From China, other non-Communist Vietnamese parties also joined the Việt Minh and established armed forces with backing from the Kuomintang.
When the Japanese surrendered to the Allies in August 1945 a power vacuum was created in Vietnam. Capitalizing on this, the Việt Minh launched the "August Revolution" across the country to seize government offices. Emperor Bảo Ðại abdicated on August 25, 1945, ending the Nguyễn Dynasty. On September 2, 1945 Hồ Chí Minh declared Vietnam independent under the new name of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) and held the position of Chairman (Chủ Tịch).
From September 2, 1945 on, the National Day (Independence Day) has been annually held to honor the national pride, to memorize the patriots who have devoted their life to the country and people. Through out the country from the deltas to mountainous, remote or isolated areas, from the urban to the rural places, various forms of activities are celebrated, including the marches, parades, meetings, forums, and parties. Independence Day has been long one of the biggest and most important holidays in Vietnam. On the day, all the streets, squares, halls and public places are decorated with colorful lights, banners, flags and flowers. Entertainment, tourist or leisure places are filled with people not only the Vietnamese but also numerous visitors from abroad who come to enjoy their holidays. There appear happy smiles on everyone’s face. The Vietnamese Independence Day is coming soon, all of us, the Vietnamese, are looking forward to the day to enjoy our first time welcoming the Independence Day abroad. We hope we will have our good time here on the day, and believe that Vietnam will soon become a powerful developed country in the world.
